About
Because he has had to deal with his own health issues, Dr. Rehl has developed deep insights into the nature of healing and what it means to be a patient. He has compassion and warmth, an excellent bedside manner, and is truly kind. People respond to him because they appreciate his dedication for their well-being and they know that he is on their side.
Dr. Rehl has a deep passion for everything health related. He is constantly studying to deepen his understanding of the human body and the effects of its environment.
After graduating from Haverford College in 1989 with a BA in Sociology/Anthropology, Dr. Rehl began his professional life as a middle school science teacher in North Carolina with the charter group for Teach For America. In 1995 he turned to massage as he realized that he had a gift in this area and wanted to explore health and well-being. Friends gave him excellent feedback, encouraging him to consider massage professionally. Michael did this, and in 1996 received his certificate in massage therapy and neuromuscular reprogramming from the Institute of Conscious Bodywork, a highly respected massage school in California with a broad range of training in many aspects of bodywork. Shortly afterwards he became a partner at The Berkeley Massage & Self-Healing Center, where he remained a partner for over 10 years.
Soon after massage school, Dr. Rehl became increasingly interested in expanding his practice to include a more holistic approach and in 1998 he received certification as a Pilates instructor from Synergy Fitness in Albany, California.
In 2000 Dr. Rehl met an outstanding chiropractor who had also mastered the art of Applied Kinesiology (AK). Seeing immediate and profound results from this technique, Dr. Rehl began enthusiastically studying AK in conjunction with physiology and nutrition, which led very naturally to the inclusion of Standard Process whole food supplements in his care of his clients.
Between 2000 and 2004, Dr. Rehl attended many seminars hosted by Standard Process and the International Foundation For Health. He also studied Acupoint Integrative Testing and Nutrition Response Testing, two techniques using muscle testing to assess underlying health imbalances and to determine highly effective nutritional protocols.
In 2004, feeling compelled to expand even further in order to allow for a higher level of diagnosis and treatment, Dr. Rehl enrolled at Life Chiropractic College West to become a doctor of chiropractic.
Dr. Rehl graduated summa cum laude in 2008. While in school, he was the recipient of the Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities Award as well as the two time recipient of the George Goodheart Scholarship for Applied Kinesiology.
Dr. Rehl's diverse set of skills greatly enhances the care he provides to his patients.
I love helping people. I'm excited about the work I do as well as about the knowledge I have regarding health. I am fascinated by physiology and the processes that can lead to sickness and pain, and even more fascinated by the techniques that can recreate health and relieve pain. Applied Kinesiology and chiropractic make more sense to me and provide more answers than anything else I've studied.”
